HBO LATIN AMERICA STARTS PRODUCTION FOR PRÓFUGOS

Miami, April 27th, 2010- HBO Latin America announced that this coming May 25th it will launch Prófugos (Fugitives), its first series filmed in Chile and its seventh original production in Latin America. The series will be produced by HBO Latin America Originals and supervised by well known Chilean producers, Efe3 and Fábula.

“This is a very important and exciting new project for HBO because not only is it the first time that we produce in Chile, but it will also be our first action series,” affirmed Luis F. Peraza, HBO LAG Executive Vice President of Acquisitions and Productions. “Once again, we are confirming our commitment to produce the highest quality television for the benefit of our subscribers.”

Prófugos will be filmed in 24 weeks and in high definition format. Locations will vary along Chile ranging from Iquique, Valparaiso, and Santiago Farellones to Temuco. Viewers will be able to enjoy a production with dynamic scenery as well as an electrifying, action filled story.

The plot revolves around four men who decide to accept an offer to become involved in a drug trafficking operation that will change their lives. At first, transporting a large quantity of cocaine from one place to another seemed like an easy task, but nothing ever goes as planned.

The four Prófugos are Álvaro Parraguez, also known as Tegui, (Benjamín Vicuña), who is an underworld professional recently initiated into the Ferragut Family drug cartel; Vicente Ferragut (Néstor Cantillana), heir to the Ferragut drug cartel’s fortune, who is being forced to involve himself in the business at the request of his mother; Oscar Salamanca (Francisco Reyes), a gravely ill, failed idealist who decides to accept the job under the illusion that it will assure a financial future for his daughter; and Mario Moreno (Luis Gnecco), a trusted man of the Chilean Ferragut family drug cartel, who is characterized for being violent and hides a turbulent past.

The series also includes talents, such as Claudia Di Girolamo, Blanca Lewin, Aline Kuppenheim, Luis Dubó, Marcelo Alonso, Amparo Noguera, Angélica Castro, Héctor Morales and Camila Hirane, among others.

Consisting of 13 episodes, Prófugos is being produced by Luis F. Peraza and Roberto Rios from HBO Latin America Originals; Pablo and Juan de Dios Larraín from Fábula; and Cristián de la Fuente and Rodrigo Flores from Efe3.

Pablo Larraín, internationally known for his films “Fuga” and “Tony Manero”, will be in charge of the Directing. Other Directors are Jonathan Jakubowicz and Javier Patrón. The script writing team is composed of Pablo Illanes, Josefina Fernández, Mateo Iribarren and Enrique Videla.
